Global Spine Congress 2023

Submitted a poster at the 2023 Global Spine Congress, which was held in Prague, Czech Republic stating in terms of elastic stiffness, the innovative device created mechanics that are generally similar to those of natural discs. The disc did the worst job of matching axial stiffness rotation, which meant that when implanted, there would be a loss of axial rotation range of motion. A visual inspection of the prototype revealed that it could be manufactured and that there were no overhang or feature size problems typical of 3D printing. The device can potentially be simply customized for each patient due to its 3D printed nature. This is advantageous because improving endplate convexity and size would reduce bone preparation and lower heterotopic ossification, while optimizing disc height would reduce over- or under-distraction. The next steps would be static and dynamic mechanical testing of the prototype as a further proof of concept.
